Why people get counseling help
We all experience challenges in life’s normal stages: marriage, career choices, parenting, and aging. Also, unexpected events such as divorce, illness, unemployment, untimely death, inability to have children, or a traumatic event may occur. There are times when families can feel overwhelmed. It is during these times that professional counseling can be helpful. We offer professional counseling based on Christian principals.

How do you know if counseling could benefit you or your family? John 10:10 (KJV) provides a guideline for when to seek help: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. If there are issues in your life, which regularly prevent you from enjoying life, you may need to seek help.

Why is it so difficult for many to seek assistance? First, it can be difficult to admit there is a need. People may deny their problems or believe themselves failures. Yet, almost all of us at some time in life suffer feelings of failure or embarrassment. While we may feel inadequate as a parent or a spouse, it is difficult to admit our shortcomings or seek help. Second, often people do not know where to turn for help or whom to trust with serious personal matters. Third, a financial burden is sometimes a deterrent to those who want help.

New Chapters
by Rev. Gary L. Greene, MAMFC, NCC, LPC
Granberry Counseling Centers

Today is a day that I have been thinking of upcoming events, admittedly with some anxiety. School for our kids will be starting soon, Fall is just around the corner and life seems to go on at a breakneck pace. As I reflect on opportunities and responsibilities, I am reminded of the scripture in Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Not only are we God's Workmanship (Master Piece) but there are things that we are assigned to do for Him.

At Granberry Counseling I often see Christian people that are trying to fulfill God's assignments and are discouraged or are feeling beat up. Many times over the years I have felt those same heavy feelings. One promise that you and I can hold on to is found in 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

The promises to us are clear. First, God has prepared us for His work. Second, He has things for us to do. Third, living in God's economy takes tenacity and perseverance. Fourth, it all pays off in the end. Either, the hard times will build my character or His Kingdom, hopefully both.

When I think about the future I can be at peace because I know who holds the future. His Wonderful Name for the record is Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
