It is hard to believe that school has started again. Thank you so much for contributing to the Back-to-School campaign. Our children will have all the supplies they need this year because of your generous support.

Fall is such a great time at the Children’s Home. The children enjoy playing outside, riding their bikes on campus, going to football games, and more. Fall is also exciting because our churches provide all the food our children need through the Fall Food Roundup. This is also the time of year when many churches and other groups choose to visit our campus for a tour. We would love to show you how your support is changing lives.

Fall is also when our staff presents the Annual Children’s Home Report to the Churches at their associational meetings. Let me give you a preview of that report. This past year you provided love, care, and hope for over 6,800 children and others. Many of those precious people experienced the joy of salvation in Christ.

Through our on-campus and off-campus residential programs we served 120 children and 30 homeless mothers. An additional 264 families received placement referral services.

Our Granberry Counseling centers provided services for 861 clients through 14 offices around the state. Our Minister Care Counseling Program provided 41 Louisiana Baptist minister families with counseling services which were paid through a partnership with the Pastoral Leadership division of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.

Our Women’s Learning Center (formally Christian Women’s Job Corps) provided 34 women with educational and job skills training. An additional 126 women were provided with support services.

Our Compassion for Kids ministry served over 5,400 economically challenged children and families across the state by providing life essentials such as food, coats, shoes, and more. During the SBC Serve Tour in New Orleans we provided 20,880 ready-to-cook meals and a gospel witness.

Finally, our international ministry, Orphans Embrace, served 18 children at the Children’s Village in Haiti. The children are doing well in the midst of challenging times. Please continue to pray for our work in Haiti.

I can’t leave you without telling you about Oliver*. He is an energetic little boy who enjoys learning and playing with his Legos. He loves the other children in his cottage, and he adores his cottage parents’ dog. Oliver grew up surrounded by neglect and dysfunction. His parents struggled with addictions.

But because of friends like you, Oliver now has the love and care he needs. You provided him with a cottage mom who home-schooled him this past year. You are sending him to a school this year where he can catch up academically. Oliver is going to church every week and hearing Bible stories every night, learning about God’s great love in Jesus. Thank you so much for helping him grow into all God has for him.

As always, we are so grateful for your incredible, life-changing support. Your gifts make it possible for children like Oliver to experience love, peace, and hope. Please consider making that trip to Monroe for a tour this fall. Until then, may the Lord bless you as you have blessed our children at your Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
