OUR LEADERSHIP

DAVID JEFFREYS

President & CEO

Dr. David Jeffreys serves as President and CEO of Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries. With more than three decades of ministry and executive leadership experience, he has devoted his life to strengthening churches, equipping leaders, and serving families across Louisiana and beyond.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Jeffreys provided senior leadership at Louisiana Christian University, where he served as Acting President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President of Denominational & Church Relations. He also faithfully served for twenty years as Associate Pastor of Highland Baptist Church in New Iberia, Louisiana, along with earlier ministry roles in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Ordained to the gospel ministry in 1995, he has served in numerous denominational leadership roles, including First Vice President of the Louisiana Baptist Convention and Chairman of the Louisiana Christian University Board of Trustees, and numerous associational positions. 

Dr. Jeffreys is deeply committed to answering God’s call to provide love, care, and hope in Christ to children and families facing crisis and hardship. He believes every child deserves a safe home, compassionate support, and the opportunity to experience the transforming power of the Gospel.

David and his wife, Stephanie, have been married since 1992 and are blessed with four children and three grandchildren.

Matt Coker

Director of Public Relations & Development

Matt has been serving as the Director of Public Relations and Development at the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home since October 1, 2023. He completed a bachelor’s degree at Louisiana Tech University in Family Science and earned a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to joining the Children’s Home, Matt served as a student minister and pastor.

Kris Brackin

Vice President of Financial and Personnel Services

Kris joined the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries staff in April 2004. She serves as Vice President of Financial & Personnel Services. Kris has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from University of Louisiana at Monroe. She has worked in the accounting field as well as in churches for many years. Kris is also a Notary Public.

JONANN BYARGEON

Director of Family Care Ministries

Jonann joined the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries staff in 2014, serving in various positions in the Women’s Learning Center. She currently serves as Director of Family Care Ministries (HomePlace). HomePlace provides transitional living for homeless children and their mothers. She has served in multiple areas of ministry within the local church. Jonann’s passion is sharing the stories of the Bible with women and investing in their lives. She is a graduate of Louisiana College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work.

ALISHA CLARK

Executive Director of the Womens Learning Center

Alisha joined the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries staff in May 2022. She serves as Executive Director of the Women’s Learning Center. She is a pastor’s wife, having served in various leadership roles in the local church. She has a nursing degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe, having worked in PICU, NICU, and home health. She has also taught middle and high school math and science. Alisha’s goal for the Women’s Learning Center is that every woman will know the hope and salvation in Christ, find purpose and value in Him, and discover paths through education and job-ready certification to careers that will provide a better future for her and her family.

MATT HANCOCK

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COMPASSION FOR KIDS

Matt has served at Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries since 2005. A graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Matt has previously served on church staffs as a youth pastor, worship pastor, evangelism teacher, and musician.

Kevin Richard

Director of Granberry Counseling Centers

Kevin is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 35 years of ministry experience and serves as Director of Granberry. He earned his bachelor's degree from Leavell College of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and his Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.

Kevin and his wife, Krystal, are both Louisiana natives and have been married over 36 years, have four adult children and five grandchildren. He has served as pastor, professional counselor, and active-duty military. This diverse experience allows him to connect with and guide clients through life’s challenges with empathy and skill.

In Romans 12:2 the Apostle Paul declared our transformation comes by the renewing of our minds. Counseling provides an atmosphere for clients to be heard and understood while working as a team with the counselor to set goals and take steps towards their transformation and growth. Kevin helps clients process through grief, addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles and more. Aspects of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are utilized to help clients reach their goals. Each person is treated with respect, care and Biblical wisdom.

LARRY VAUGHN

Director of Property Management

After farming in Southeast Arkansas for 38 years, God was clear in calling Larry and his wife, Lisa, away from raising crops to raising children in the Foster Care System. In faith, they stepped away from a life of agriculture and service through their local church and made the move to Monticello, AR, where they served for three years on the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home campus as House Parents. Larry and Lisa joined the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home staff in 2019 as Foster Parents. They now provide respite care for campus Foster Parents. In January 2022, Larry was named Director of Property Management as he oversees the physical plant and equipment both on the main campus and off site.
