Words from Home…

“It’s different but it’s good!” That’s what I shared with you last summer as we began dealing with the Covid crisis. Summer 2021 has also been different but good. Construction delays prevented us from opening our new recreation center but the children have enjoyed all sorts of great activities. We provided special outdoor sports on campus. The children enjoyed VBS in our local churches and they have wonderful memories of cottage vacations.

The good news is that the recreation center will be open in just a few weeks. The children will be able to enjoy games in the main court areas and cool off in the new swimming pool. The facility also includes a gift room for those Christmas and birthday gifts that you provide. We have also been able to renovate the game room which is adjacent to the new facility. It will have new indoor play equipment for the children and a workout room for our staff.

Our final family care cottage is also under construction. The facility will complete a cul-de-sac of three cottages which provide residence for homeless children and their mothers. Our HomePlace ministry is truly making a significant impact on those families.

I am also excited to announce that our Minister Care Transitional Living ministry will resume offering services in September. The renovation of our minister care cottage is almost complete. The program provides support for terminated Louisiana Baptist minister families, furloughing missionaries, and other ministers in need of transitional housing. All services are provided at no cost. You can read more about the program in this edition of the Home News on page six. You can also visit our website for more details.

We are so excited about the opportunities God is providing through our diverse group of ministries. Christian Women’s Job Corps is helping many of our HomePlace mothers and others complete their high school education and move toward independence. Our Granberry Counseling Centers are restoring families through professional Christian counseling. Connect 1:27 is reaching couples who are called to Foster Care and Adoption ministries. Compassion for Kids is providing life essentials for hundreds of children in need through partnerships with local churches. Our Orphans Embrace ministry is reaching the next generation in Haiti through our orphanage and school. Through all our programs 1,000s are being served and many are accepting Christ as Savior.

Thank you so much for your generous and faithful support. It is through your gifts that we will continue to provide love, care, and hope in Christ for children and families in need. God bless you all.
