Spring is almost here! Our children are getting ready for some great outdoor activities and special events. One of my greatest blessings at LBCH is watching the children being children. Their laughter is a gift to us all.
Spring is also special because we have the opportunity to celebrate Easter with our children. I found this short, humorous story that I think you’ll enjoy.
On Palm Sunday, a teacher asked her class if they knew the real story of Easter. After receiving several incorrect answers, one student said, “Easter is when Jesus was killed, placed in a tomb, and left for three days.” The teacher beamed with satisfaction that at least one of her students knew the true meaning of Easter. But before she could praise the student for his answer, he continued by saying, “Then everybody gathered at the tomb and waited to see if when Jesus came out he saw his shadow. If he did, they had six more weeks of winter.” Oh well. As one of our young boys said the other day, “I really need to read my Bible more.”
Easter is one of the most special times of the year at the Home. We are able to share the story of God’s great love for us and His power over death. Before coming to LBCH, most of our children have never known the true meaning of Easter. Once they hear the story of the Resurrection, many of them come to know Christ as Savior.
The truth is, if it were not for you, we would not be here to tell them the life-changing story of Easter. Yes, you help us provide them with food, clothing, and shelter. You make it possible for them to have good medical care, school supplies, and more. But it is the sharing of the Good News that can make an eternal difference in their lives. That is why we thank you so often for your giving, because the investment you are making in the lives and hearts of our children is reaping eternal returns.
When you read this edition of the Home News, you will see many of the exciting ways that God is meeting needs and changing lives. Thank you again for all you are doing to bless our children. I know that many of you are giving sacrificially to ensure that this ministry of help and hope continues.
As you celebrate Easter with your family and your church family, remember that you are also an important part of our family here at LBCH. I pray that you have a blessed Easter this year and that the story of a Living Lord inspires you to greater service in His kingdom. God bless you all.
