I wish that you could have been with us at the annual Children’s Celebration Banquet last week. The event is attended each year by our children, HomePlace families, staff, teachers, church members, trustees, and other special friends who have played an important role in the success of our children. The banquet is sponsored by the Judy Lynn Bailey Endowment Fund.
The theme of our banquet was “Glimpses of Grace.” The Scripture verse was Ephesians 2:8. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves. It is the gift of God.”
Our speaker for the night was Christian comedian and musical artist Tim Lovelace. He provided entertainment and encouragement for us all. We also enjoyed a musical performance by the children and one of our HomePlace moms.
The year-end slide show developed by cottage dad Randy Lee was excellent. Academic awards were presented, along with individual awards for kindness, courage, and perseverance. In addition, cottage parents, family workers, administrative staff, and others identified traits in each child that can be found in a follower of Christ. Those qualities were placed on a customized certificate and presented to each child. This year’s banquet was a wonderful testament of what God is doing at the Children’s Home.
We continue to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of LBCH. Our new Legacy Room is almost complete. The room includes a timeline, memorabilia from the past, and a new video that traces the history of the Home from its beginnings as an orphanage to its multifaceted family of ministries today.
Our Anniversary celebration will also include a special Alumni Homecoming this year. The meeting is set for June 7-8. We will have former residents and staff on campus with several activities planned for the two-day event. On July 16 we will have a special reception celebrating the founding of the Children’s Home by Louisiana Baptists.
Construction for our new Compassion Center is moving forward. The Center will provide life essentials for children and families in need throughout north and central Louisiana. LBCH will partner with churches that have existing compassion ministries and churches that start new ministries. The Center is scheduled to open in October. The goal is to provide support for 25,000 children and family members annually. Please contact us if your church is interested in a partnership that meets needs and shares Christ.
Thank you so much for your faithful and generous support. Because of your special love and care, our children and families are growing into all that God has for them. You are truly changing lives every day at LBCH.
This anniversary year is a great time for your church group to visit our campus in Monroe. You will enjoy the tour and you will be able to see how God is using your gifts to bless our children and families. Call today to schedule your visit. Thank you again for making the Children’s Home a place where God’s love takes you in.
