It is hard to believe that school has started again. Thank you so much for contributing to the Back-to-School campaign. Our children will have all the supplies they need this year because of your generous support.
Fall is such a great time at the Children’s Home. The children enjoy playing outside, riding their bikes on campus, going to football games, and more. Fall is also exciting because our churches provide all the food our children need through the Fall Food Roundup. Thank you for meeting those needs.
Fall is also when our staff presents the Annual Children’s Home Report to the Churches at their associational meetings. Hopefully, we will see many of you then. Let me give you a preview of that report. This past year you provided love, care, and hope for over 8,000 children, families, and others. Many of those precious people experienced the joy of salvation in Christ.
Through our residential child and family care ministries, on-campus and off-campus we served 126 children and homeless mothers. An additional 310 families received placement referral services. Many of the children and mothers made new and renewed commitments to the Lord.
Our Granberry Counseling centers provided services for 837 clients through 12 offices around the state. Our Minister Care Counseling Program provided 38 Louisiana Baptist minister families with counseling services which were paid through a partnership with the Pastoral Leadership division of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
Our Women’s Learning Center (formally Christian Women’s Job Corps) provided 47 women with educational and job skills training. Our Compassion for Kids ministry served thousands of economically challenged children and families throughout the state by providing food, coats, shoes, household items, and more. Our international ministry, Orphans Embrace, served 34 children at a new location in Cap Haitien, Haiti. The children are doing well in the midst of challenging times. Please continue to pray for our work in Haiti.
Construction of our new Compassion Center continues. We plan to open in December or January. The goal is to reach 25,000 - 35,000 children and others each year by providing life essentials and the gospel through partnerships with churches in North and Central Louisiana.
I can’t leave you without telling you about a sibling group of three who moved on campus this year. We will call them Andrew, Millie, and Ella. Andrew and Millie accepted Christ after attending Vacation Bible School and Ella came to know Christ after attending summer camp. They were all baptized in one of our local churches and are currently being discipled in their cottage. Thank you so much for being such an important part of their decisions to follow Jesus.
We are still celebrating our 125th Anniversary. If you haven’t come for a campus tour, call today and set that date. You’ll be able to see what God is doing through your generous support. Thank you again for providing love, care and hope in Christ for children and families in need at your Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. God bless you all.
