Easter

Download HomeNews - March and April 2025

It was a beautiful spring morning, and children were eagerly waiting for the annual Easter egg hunt. The grass in the church yard had been freshly mowed, and colorful plastic eggs were scattered everywhere. Each egg was filled with sweet treats and surprises.

Pastor Joe stood at the front of the group and said, “Ok, children. Are you ready?” Of course, they all shouted out their affirmative “YES!” Brother Joe then gave them a few instructions and told them about special prize eggs. He insisted that the children keep all the eggs they found even if an egg was different from all the rest.

At his signal, the children rushed into the yard. One by one, they found the brightly colored eggs, opened them, and discovered the prize inside. Little Emma, a quiet and thoughtful child, was enjoying the hunt but noticed something unusual about one of her eggs. When she opened the egg, to her surprise, it was empty. There was no candy inside. Emma put the egg in the basket and continued hunting.

When most of the eggs had been found, Pastor Joe gathered the children together. He gave a prize to the child who found the most eggs, and a prize to the child who found a golden egg. But there was one more prize. Pastor Joe asked, “Did anyone find an empty egg?”

Emma remembered finding an empty egg. She raised her hand, and Pastor Joe asked her to come forward with her empty egg. “Yes, that’s it,” he shouted. “That egg is empty because it represents something very special—the empty tomb of Jesus.
All the children were amazed. Emma’s heart warmed as she thought about her egg and the empty tomb. Pastor Joe smiled and said. “Emma, you found the special egg, and I want to give you a special gift.” He then gave her a beautiful new Bible. Emma’s face lit up with joy as she took the Bible. The pastor then shared the good news of how they could have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Here at the Children’s Home, one of the greatest privileges we have is telling our children about Jesus. We do that through cottage devotionals, church attendance, personal conversations and more. Some days we are simply planting seeds. Other days we are watering. Then there are the special days when a child, on their own, trusts Christ as Savior.

You help our children in so many ways. You provide them with clothes and food. You meet their educational needs. You provide recreational opportunities. You help them enjoy great vacations and camps in the summer. You provide all those things and so much more. But most importantly, you provide them with the love, joy, and hope that can be found in Jesus. We cannot thank you enough for that.

I pray that you and your family have a great time of worship and celebration this Easter. The tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive! Thank you again for your life-changing support of our children. May God bless you as you have blessed them.
