125TH ANNIVERSARY
Foster Parent Orientation Meetings

The First Step in Your Fostering Journey

The Louisiana Baptist Children's Home has a unique partnership with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to offer Foster Parent Orientation meetings to individuals and couples interested in learning more about the process of becoming foster parents. Foster Parent Orientation meetings are led by Connect1Child Foster Care & Adoption Specialists and provide valuable information on foster care, foster parenting requirements, needs and challenges within the foster care system, as well as opportunities to serve those impacted by foster care. Most importantly, Connect1Child Foster Parent Orientation meetings approach foster care as a Biblical call to provide Christ-centered love, care, support, and hope to vulnerable children and families in Louisiana.

The Foster Parent Orientation meeting is your starting point for the fostering journey. If you choose to continue toward foster parent certification, Connect1Child Foster Parent Orientation meetings meet the Louisiana DCFS requirement of completing Foster Parent Orientation prior to registering for A Journey Home, the foster parent certification training course.

You are not obligated to become certified to foster by simply attending Foster Parent Orientation. This is just an opportunity to receive information and ask questions in a welcoming, laid-back environment. Whether you are interested in fostering or would like to get involved in serving the foster care community, this meeting has important information to equip you for the next step in your journey.
