CHRISTY GOODWIN, LCSW-BACS

Director of Connect1Child

Christy joined the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home & Family Ministries staff in 2019 as a Foster Care & Adoption Specialist for the Shreveport region. Christy received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Social Work degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. A native to Shreveport, Christy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in medical social work, school social work, and private adoption. She and her family also had the opportunity to serve as foster parents in Orleans Parish in 2017-18 while her husband attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Christy works to recruit new foster families, support existing foster families, and partner with local churches and community partners to meet the needs of children in foster care. Christy is passionate about individuals, families, churches, and organizations working together to respond to the current foster care crisis.

Emily Williams, MSW, LMSW

Foster Care and Adoption Specialist

Emily joined the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries staff in June of 2024 as the Connect1Child Foster Care & Adoption Specialist for the Alexandria region. Emily works to represent and promote LBCHFM / Connect1Child Foster Care & Adoption in churches and in the community. Emily also works to serve children and families in need by connecting with and equipping churches for foster care and adoption ministries. She received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development & Family Sciences with a concentration in Child Development from Louisiana Tech University in August of 2022. Emily went on to obtain her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Healthcare/Behavioral Health from Louisiana Christian University in May of 2024. 

Emily is passionate about helping families in the Alexandria region answer God's calling to become foster parents. Seeing Christ-centered families welcome children into their homes and allow them to experience pure and true love, not only from that foster family but from God, is what drives her passion. Emily is equally passionate and emphasizes the importance of churches and the community coming together to support these families during their fostering journey. She is excited to serve God through this ministry and witness how God works in the lives of the people around her.

Hannah Beth Nielsen, MSW, CSW

Hannah Beth Nielsen, MSW, CSW

Foster Care and Adoption Specialist

Hannah Beth joined the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries staff in June of 2024 as a Foster Care and Adoption specialist for the Baton Rouge region. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in May of 2023 and a Master of Social Work with a specialization in Child and Family from Louisiana State University in May of 2024. Hannah Beth has experience in foster care as she grew up as a biological child in a foster family and is co-director of a summer camp for children in the local foster care system. She also founded a support program for biological children in foster and/or adoptive homes called Siblings Supporting Siblings. Hannah Beth strives to bridge the gap between churches and foster care because her church wrapped around her during their time of fostering and made a huge impact in her life.

Kamiron May, MSW, LMSW

Foster Care and Adoption Specialist

Kamiron joined the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries staff in June of 2023 as a Foster Care & Adoption Specialist. Kamiron works to serve children and families in need by connecting with and equipping churches for foster care and adoption ministries in the Monroe Region.

Kamiron received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and she further pursued her education by obtaining a Master of Social Work with a specialization in Healthcare/Behavioral Health from Louisiana Christian University. Throughout her studies at LCU, Kamiron had the opportunity to complete an internship at the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in the Children and Family Services Department. This experience not only enhanced her understanding of the Foster Care system but also deepened her passion for it.

Kamiron's passion lies in seeking out Christian families who are wholeheartedly willing to answer the call of the ministry and provide a nurturing environment filled with love, stability, and support for children. Recognizing the significance of a strong support system, Kamiron emphasizes the importance of the community, church, family, and friends coming together to uplift and assist these families in their journey of fulfilling God's purpose.

Abigail Meza, MSW, LMSW

Abigail Meza, MSW, LMSW

Foster Care and Adoption Specialist

Abigail joined the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home & Family Ministries team in June 2024. She brings a robust background in social work and human development, holding a Bachelor of Science in Human Development & Family Science from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University. During her graduate studies, Abigail gained valuable experience as an intern with Connect1Child and the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services.

Abigail is deeply passionate about foster care and adoption ministry, believing that it is the church's responsibility to care for vulnerable children and families. God’s desire for compassion is undeniable, and Jesus’ clear mandate regarding care for the vulnerable is what motivates Abigail to serve the needs of children and families within the foster care system. It is evident that she is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children and families through her work in the Shreveport Region as a Connect1Child Specialist.
