In this edition of the HomeNews you will see pictures from our annual Children’s Celebration Banquet. The event is attended each year by our children, staff, school teachers, church members, trustees, and other special friends who have played an important role in the success of our children. The banquet is sponsored every year by the Judy Lynn Bailey Endowment Fund.

The theme of our banquet was “The Truth of God.” The Scripture verse was 1 John 5:20. “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.”

We enjoyed musical performances by the children and the year-end slide show. Each child received a customized certificate that listed Christlike qualities cottage parents, family workers, and others have observed in their lives. I wish you could have seen their faces as they received such positive recognition.

We were also blessed by the ministry of Christian illusionist David Laflin. He not only mesmerized the children, and adults, with his tricks, but he presented the Gospel in a unique and effective way. Everyone enjoyed David’s presentation.

The afternoon before the banquet, Children’s Home Trustees met and approved a major expansion of our Compassion for Kids ministry. We will soon begin construction of a regional Compassion Center which will serve 25-50 thousand children and families annually. The Center will partner with existing compassion ministries in north and central Louisiana and will help churches establish new works that meet needs and share Christ.
